Biography

Maxzavier (Qianshu) Guo is a junior majoring in Music for New Media at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. With a passion for both classical and contemporary music, he has spent his academic journey delving deep into the world of composition and production. With each composition, He strives to tell a unique story and connect with audiences on a profound level.

His musical exploration has led him to a diverse range of projects, including creating grand orchestral, jazz compositions, and electronic music. These experiences have not only expanded his musical horizons but have also provided him with a unique perspective on the intersection of music and technology. Guo is dedicated to creating music that resonates and leaves a lasting impact. He has produced soundtracks and scores for films and games over the years and has participated in several scoring contests. In addition, he has four years of experience working for the Recording Arts department at Peabody Institute.

His journey at Peabody has equipped him with a solid foundation in music theory, composition techniques, and cutting-edge production tools. Guo is excited to continue honing his skills and exploring the endless possibilities that the world of film/game him music has to offer. As a composer and producer, Guo is committed to pushing the boundaries of music for new media, constantly seeking innovative ways to engage and captivate audiences through his compositions. For example, he incorporates electronic elements and jazz theories which he learned from school in his orchestral compositions. He keeps digging the boundaries of harmonies, from classical to jazz, from tonal to atonal, that could make his music meaningful and innovative in his compositions. He believes in the power of music to enhance storytelling, evoke emotions, and create immersive experiences across various forms of media.

In the ever-evolving landscape of film/game music, Guo is eager to contribute his creativity, technical expertise, and passion to the field. He is always looking forward to collaborating with fellow artists, filmmakers, and give developers to bring compelling soundscapes to life and to continue his journey of musical exploration and innovation. He is currently working on orchestral reading recently and is eager to collaborate with other composers in the future.
